- 7 The Jean Fritz History Series: Shh! We're Writing the Constitution
is part of the
The Jean Fritz History
series.
This program is based on a popular book, "Shh! We're Writing the Constitution," by award-winning author Jean Fritz. The story follows the events of the summer of 1787, when the founding fathers met in Philadelphia to frame the Constitution. On the CD, the text's wit and humor are enhanced by the wry narration by the author, Jean Fritz. She cleverly draws out the personalities of the people at the convention, the sights, smells, and curiosities of the surrounding streets, and the serious purpose that led them to achieve compromise and found a nation. The witty illustrations by Tomie dePaola (transformed into animations for this program) bring life to the everyday details of life in the newly born United States of America.
