- 10 Decisions, Decisions Current Issues: Cloning
is part of the
Decisions, Decisions Current Issues
series.
In December 2002 scientists at Clonaid, a research company, claimed that they had successfully cloned a human. Even though they have not provided proof of their claim, many people reacted with shock and anger. Those who oppose cloning say that these scientists are performing dangerous experiments on human beings. They liken it to playing God and want such experiments banned. However, many scientists believe that cloning research can help to create valuable stem cells that one day could be used to cure many human diseases.
In early 2003, the US Senate is likely to debate a law that would ban all human cloning. What do you think they should do?
