- 5 Choices, Choices 5.0: Kids and the Environment
is part of the
Choices, Choices 5.0
series.
It's almost recess time at the Cherry Hill School. You and your teammates are looking forward to soccer practice. You have a big game coming up in a few weeks. As captain of the Cherry Hill Chargers, you are a little nervous. Your team is playing the Blue Falls Bobcats, and you know they have one of the best teams. The recess bell rings. You and your teammates head out to the playing field. But as you get closer, you notice something isn't quite right. There is trash blowing around and something smells terrible. Where is the trash coming from? Whose responsibility is it to take care of the field? Should you play anyway? After all, you only have a few weeks left before the big game. Students, role-playing the team captain, must weigh how their choices will affect the team, school, and community. Choices, Choices 5.0: Kids & the Environment introduces many important social studies issues in the context of a local pollution crisis. The topics covered include: | Recycling | | Source reduction | | Landfills | | Social and individual responsibility |
