A: The Decisions, Decisions series was designed for a display resolution of 640X480 . If the program does not fill your screen, you can correct this by reducing your display resolution to 640X480 , using the following instructions. If at a later time you wish to return to your original resolution, follow these steps and switch from 640X480 to your earlier settings.
On a Mac of OS 8 or 9 , you can set your screen resolution through the Apple Menu , under the Control Panels list.
- Open the Monitors control panel.
- Your current resolution setting will be listed to the right of the Monitors control panel. Make a note of this current setting for future reference.
- Select the 640X480 resolution option in the list on the right hand side.
- Close the Monitors control panel.
On a Mac OS 10 system, running the program in Classic Mode, set your screen resolution in the OS X environment, prior to launching the application, and it should carry through into Classic.
- From the Apple Menu , click System Preferences .
- Click the Displays icon, listed in the Hardware subsection.
- To the left, in the Resolutions field, make a note of your current setting and select 640X480 . Your screen should automatically resize at this point.

- Use the slider bar to select a screen resolution of 640X480 and click OK .
- Agree to accept the changes in the verification prompt that follows.
On a Windows XP computer, you cannot set your global resolution to 640x480 . To view the program in this resolution you will need to adjust the application's properties by following the steps listed below. Q: Can I set up a cross-platform (Mac/PC) simulation on my network?
A: Yes, you can use the network version to create cross-platform, multi-team rotation simulations. To do this you will need both the Macintosh and the PC versions of the application installed on your server. However, when saving your file from a Macintosh workstation, you will need to give the file a name that can be identified by a Windows computer. Here's how to set it up:
- Launch your network version of Decisions, Decisions.
- Click New on the title screen.
- Click Multi-Team and then click Next.
- Click Network.
- Enter the number of teams that will be sharing this simulation file.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish on the Setup Complete Screen.
- If you are on a Macintosh workstation, skip to step 10.
- Give your file a name and save to a location where your users have read/write access.
- To allow your PC users to share in the simulation, you will need to give your file a name that will identify it the PC as a Decisions, Decisions file. (See Below)
- Save to a location where your users have read/write access.
Windows File Conventions:
On the Windows operating systems, file types for registered programs are recognized based on the last three letters in the file name, after the decimal point. To save your simulation file so that it can be opened on a PC, you will need to add a decimal point followed by three letters to the end of the file name. For example, the Windows file extension for “Decisions, Decisions: Ancient Empires” files is “.ANC”, so you would save your simulation as “filename.anc”, where “filename” is a name of your choosing.
The following is a list of the Windows file extensions to use for each of the Decisions, Decisions 5.0 titles:
Ancient Empires: .ANC
Building a Nation: .BAN
Cold War, The: .CWA
Constitution, The: .CON
Colonization: .COL
Environment, The: .ENV
Feudalism: .FDL
Immigration: .IMM
Lying, Cheating, Stealing: .LCS
On the Campaign Trail: .CAM
Prejudice: .PJD
Revolutionary Wars: .REV
Substance Abuse: .SUB
Town & Government: .TOG
Violence in the Media: .VIO
