The Library of Congress is the place to find images, as well as original documents, sound recordings, and motion pictures from American History. The Library's American Memory site archives thousands of images, many of which are copyright-free. Archivists have prepared many special online presentations including the following, or you can use the Search Engine to easily investigate the topic of your choice.

NASA

Facts on File is another excellent source for pictures, sounds, and historical and scientific information. It is a for-profit Web site, but it offers a 30-day free trial for use of its large online databases. Facts on File also offers CD-ROMs and books.
